DIY Summertime Foot Scrubs Kids Can Make Themselves

Though it’s a season of joy for children, summer can also bring its fair share of hardships for kids’ feet. Blisters, bug bites, stubbed toes, abrasions and rough, dirty foot skin are all par for the course. But many of these summertime toe and sole ailments can be soothed with special foot scrubs made just for kids. From a peppermint candy cane mix to a strawberry honey mix, these refreshing DIY foot scrubs help slough off flaky, dry skin and soothe those sore, little tired feet that run, skip, jump and walk throughout the days of summer. Perfect for a kids spa party, a rainy afternoon, or just to help jumpstart good foot care that lasts for life.

Pink Sugar Foot Scrub 


  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • 5 to 10 drops of red food coloring
  • 5 drops of essential oil (sweet orange, coriander and grapefruit are good choices)

Mix the sugars together and then add the oil, food coloring and essential oils. Stir the mixture together well and then store in an airtight container.

Peppermint Candy Cane Foot Scrub


  • 2 cups white sugar
  • ½ cup coconut or almond oil
  • About 5 drops of peppermint essential oil

Mix the sugar and oils together, and then seal in an airtight container.

Green Apple Salt And Sugar Scrub


  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • ½ cup of regular or Epsom salt
  • ½ cup of coconut or almond oil
  • A few drops of green apple fragrance (usually found at craft stores)
  • A few drops of green food coloring

Mix the salt and sugar together, then add the oil, fragrance and food coloring. Stir to combine and then seal in an airtight container.

Honey Strawberry Salt And Sugar Foot Scrub


  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup regular or Epsom salt
  • ½ cup organic honey
  • 6 large strawberries
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil (to help preserve strawberries)

Mix the sugar and salt together and then add the honey and vitamin E oil. Mash the strawberries into a pulpy consistency and then stir them into the sugar and salt mixture. Seal in an airtight container and use within a couple of days. 

Orange Honey Foot Scrub


  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of organic honey
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh orange juice
  • a few drops of orange essential oil

Mix the ingredients together until smooth. Seal in an airtight container and use within a few days.
