When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When life gives you an amputated foot, you make an über popular Instagram account featuring the limb. Well, you do if your name is Kristi Loyall, that is.

After developing a rare soft tissue tumor called epithelioid sarcoma last year, the Oklahoma resident was forced to amputate her foot. Though she initially wailed over the loss of her foot and fell into a deep depression, she later snapped out of it after asking the doctor if she could keep the limb (cleaned of flesh, whitened and articulated, of course) and creating a quirky Instagram account of her foot’s travels.

“I like weird things, so I thought it would be cool if somebody came to my house and I was like, ‘Hey, by the way, that’s my real foot over there,” the 25-year-old told Today, adding that she eventually went ahead with the Instagram account called One Foot Wander “to show people who are going through hard situations that life goes on and that there’s hope.”

One Foot Wander: An Amputated Foot’s Journey

Filled with dark humor and plenty of foot puns, Loyall’s Instagram account has amassed quite a following -- almost 18 thousand at the time this article was published. And her unique photos draw plenty of comments, as well. After all, it's not every day you see an amputated foot with a pedicure, going to IHOP and traveling the world.

“It’s really nice to be able to go on my Instagram and see all these uplifting comments,” Loyall admits. “It makes me feel good about myself.”

Check out a few photos from One Foot Wander below, and then follow Loyall on Instagram for more fabulous foot fun.
